Joss Stone Drinks Tea for Work and Play

A vegetarian from birth, Joss Stone has never tasted a piece of meat. Tea however, is another story. As we’ve mentioned before, Stone drinks a super-spicy tea concoction to soothe her voice after a show, but tea plays a much larger role in her diet. The talented 21-year-old soul singer also drinks tea before she hits the stage.  “They say singers shouldn’t drink milk and to be careful with dairy. But I drink tea with milk in it all the way up until I perform.”

And that spicy tea she drinks, well she brings it right onto the stage with her!  It’s a peppermint tea with cayenne pepper, honey and lemon, and Stone swears by it. “I can easily be sick — there’s not much sleep on tour, and there’s lots of travel — but since I found this tea last year, I’ve been well.”

Want to try Stone’s tea for yourself?  It may not launch you into super singing stardom, but it’s worth a shot!  Make it at home with some of Bigelow Tea’s delicious Peppermint Herbal tea, and then add your own honey, lemon and cayenne pepper (if you can handle it!)

Tea is a Singer’s Best Friend for Anette Olzon

So, when you belt it out several times a week during a concert tour, what’s the best remedy? According to Anette Olzon, the powerful voice and femme fatale of Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, it’s a cup of green tea with honey before the start of a show.

If anyone would know how to soothe those vocal chords, it would be Olzon. Do you think she goes for the exotic flavors such as mango or pomegranate, or is she a stickler for simplicity? Thoughts?

R&B Singer Jazmine Sullivan Drinks Tea to Soothe Her Voice

Newcomer Jazmine Sullivan burst onto the R&B/Soul music scene in a bold way. With the guidance of mentor and collaborator Missy Elliot, Sullivan has managed to hit number one on the R&B charts with her debut album, Fearless. She is now on tour with soul artist, Maxwell. The 21-year-old from Philadelphia uses her personal experiences to take her music in an open and honest direction. This could be one of the reasons for her success; she is relatable. Another contributor could be tea. “He [Maxwell] makes me this special tea to help my voice recover,” said Sullivan. Want to catch Sullivan and Maxwell in a city near you? No Umbrellas Please, Just Tea

It seems that the superstar from Barbados, Rihanna, wants to have tea available at all times. The singer made famous for her hit song, “Umbrella,” requests that a teapot (among other things) always be available to her while on tour. As for the umbrellas, well they’re not quite so lucky.

Rihanna supposedly banned fans from bringing umbrellas into her shows due to the high rate of accidents amongst the audience. The “Good Girl Gone Bad” as her CD is named has some stranger requests, including 100 kilograms of popcorn, garlic and two packs of pink bubblegum.

As for the tea, well she takes that with honey. According to Rihanna, it’s what helps her prepare herself before a performance. On an interview with The TODAY Show, she said, “Before a show, I usually just drink tea.”

Whether she goes for a soothing chai or the calming chamomile tea with honey, tea fans now have a connection to the talented, young pop star!
