It’s a famous old English proverb, to “strike while the iron is hot” – telling us to act quickly while the opportunity is available. For the blacksmith, once the iron has cooled it becomes brittle and the opportunity to hammer it into shape has passed…OK…got it…but what about the tea kettle…shouldn’t you also strike while the tea kettle is hot? Yes, says Cindy Bigelow, on making the perfect cup of tea, take the kettle off right at the boiling point, for the perfect temperature to steep your tea.

Perhaps it’s just all a tempest in a teacup, but there seems to be an endless number of proverbs regarding the kettle boiling – and much to learn from them. It’s just like the movie You’ve Got Mail, where the character played by Tom Hanks claims that the source of all wisdom in the world can be learned from the classic 1972 film The Godfather. Perhaps your daily Bigelow Tea pleasure, complete with kettle, tea, pot and cup, is really the source of all of life’s and love’s answers, as these proverbs and English sayings may suggest…

Financial and budget challenges? Well, it’s true that “Money makes the pot boil”

Time Management issues? You know of course that “A watched pot never boils”

Chronic Fashion problems? They say that ‘Beauty won’t make the pot boil”

Love or Friendship quandary? You know that Bigelow Tea will help: “While the pot boils, friendship lasts”

As you ponder life and sip your Bigelow Tea, just be careful – as they say; “there are many a slip, twixt cup and lip”…so you should be careful not to mix your tea proverbs and maxims. Or… uhhh… you may find yourself in a fine Tea Kettle of Fish!
