Bigelow Tea knows that our herbal teas are relaxing and tasty, and that herbal teas have been used for medicinal purposes throughout history. Now, after two years of research and development, Bigelow Tea has introduced four new herbal teas with important nutritional properties, our Herb Plus line.
Why “Plus”? These healthy and delicious teas are fortified with probiotics, Omega3, anti-oxidants, vitamins, and choline…not sure what all those good things do for you? Check out this excellent new video where Cindi Bigelow explains all the healthy benefits of these delicious new teas!
Since the term “cupcake” refers to “any small cake that is about the size of a teacup,” it’s only fitting to celebrate teatime with cupcakes. In fact, this practice is becoming popular at fine tea shops and ritzy hotels around the country.
This makes perfect sense since both teatime and cupcakes are elegant, as can be seen in the photo below (the mini cupcakes, are especially cute.) What a pairing!
But this chic trend is not so elegant that you can’t try it at home. Be creative. You can decorate your cupcakes along a favorite theme; bedeck your plain cupcakes as teapots or top them off with an entire, albeit miniature, breakfast tea service as pictured below. Now this is an artistic and gastronomic beauty!
For the finishing touch, how about a bouquet of edible “flowers” made, of course, of cupcakes? A delicious addition to your afternoon tea that has its own sweet bouquet! Go ahead, you can have your cupcakes and eat them too!
Got to love all the rain we are having in this part of the country…people love to hold a warm cup of tea in their hands and relax when the weather is dreary outside. Problem is we have had so much rain our homes are taking a beating.
Left the office yesterday when I got a call that my septic was BACKING UP INTO MY HOME. I clearly did not need to hear too much more and spent the next 7 hours doing things that are not the most fun. Luckily I had several friends and family helping save our basement.
It could have been so much worse.
So I am counting my blessings today for my family and friends who worked tirelessly to save my house from completely going under and I am REALLY happy the sun is coming out. Yes, rain is great for tea and that is good but after yesterday, I think I could use a little break from those sweet little rain drops….at least until my back yard dries up!!
Bigelow Tea’s Green Tea has many fans, for taste and health reasons; but did you know studies show it also can help to fade scars? In these three easy steps, scars can begin to vanish:
Blanch a teaspoon of green tea. Dip a tea ball of green tea into boiling water, then ice water. This will create two cups of green tea, and make mush out of the green tea leaves.
Cool the blanched green tea and then swab onto your face. The blanched tea leaves will help heal the scarred areas and protect them from UV rays and sun damage.
Drink several cups of green tea each day! The antioxidants in the green tea will help your skin heal from the inside out more quickly and with less discoloration.

So, enjoy a steaming cup of Bigelow Tea green tea, and know you are being good to your body.
The taste and warmth of tea is in itself an uplifting delight….and is there no end to all the other benefits of green tea?!
We are proud at Bigelow Tea of our quality products. We know that our tea is a part of our customer’s lives, and are honored to have our products in your home as an important part of your daily routines and lives.
Our commitment to our customers goes beyond a daily presence in your kitchens and tea cups; we are also proud to support communities and organizations that help share our philosophies of family, healthy living and serving others. That is why we are excited to recognize the 100th year anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America! It’s a special year for the Boy Scouts, and we salute their many works and efforts.
You may remember that in 2008, our own Cindi Bigelow was honored with the Boy Scout of the Year award, given annually to strong community role models. Cindi was honored to be recognized by an organization that does such high quality community service work, and shares in our mission to promote ethical social practices.
Through work in our local community (like our annual Bigelow Tea Community Challenge) we reach out to and support efforts of many charitable organizations. And we always advocate doing the right thing. We applaud the work of the Boy Scouts of America and their full time job of helping build strong, lasting bonds between youth and their community. We wish them a great year of celebration. And we raise a cup of tea to the next 100!
In past blogs we’ve talked about how tea was established as the national drink of Great Britain. For centuries tea continued to grow in the British culture and around the world— music to Bigelow Tea’s ears!
We regularly mention celebrities from across the globe who prefer the taste and simple perfection of a great cup of tea, and who tout its compelling impact on their day.
Our latest highlighted celebrity, James Nesbitt, is a great tea lover and an accomplished actor. Perhaps best known for the popular British series, Murphy’s Law, Nesbitt has performed on the big and small screen, and on both sides of the pond. But it’s his shining beverage choice that makes him a star to us!
The dedicated tea drinker recently attended Leonard Cheshire Disability’s charity event Tea for Ability, which raises money for disabled people with the help of celebrity and non-celebrity endorsements. At the event he said:
“I like nothing better than relaxing with a strong cup of tea after a hard day’s filming…so what could be better than supporting the charity’s Tea for Ability scheme?”
We couldn’t agree more, James! What is better than a hot cup of tea after a long, exhausting day? Try unwinding with a mug of our delicious Cozy Chamomile tea or any one of our delectable decaf flavors…a cup for a perfect cap on a busy day!
Here at Bigelow Tea, we know that the right cup of tea goes with just about anything. We want to know when you think tea really hits the spot: summer, winter, rainy days, balmy nights; when does that cup of tea mean the most to you?
I had the wonderful opportunity to have lunch with Stew, Jill and Beth Leonard the other day. The Leonard family owns and operates the famous Stew Leonard’s stores in Connecticut, Long Island and New York. All three shared what they do to nurture and drive their family businesses forward as well strategies to get the next generation involved in the business.
The conversation was nonstop and the passion strong, as each family member opened up and shared what they try to do to ensure that they do the right thing every day for customers, employees and family!
As if the pleasure of sipping a nice, warm mug of green tea wasn’t reason enough to enjoy the delicious beverage, a new study adds to the growing evidence that the properties of green tea may help protect against certain cancers.
In this new study looking at oral cancer, volunteers with pre-malignant mouth lesions were given green tea extract for three months at an amount equivalent to drinking eight to ten cups of green tea a day. The study found that about 59 percent of people taking the highest dose of the green tea extract showed a positive clinical response, compared with 18 percent of those who took a placebo.

Remember the sage expression “You are what you eat?” It’s so true! The key to healthy living is balancing physical activity with good nutrition.
Healthy food choices, combined with daily exercise (and a nice cup of Bigelow green tea!) keep us energetic, alert and better equipped to handle day-to-day stresses with humor and ease.
Don’t worry, there’s no need to start cold turkey; begin with the basics and take it one step at a time. It’s what the American Dietetic Association refers to as Nutrition from the Ground Up – the theme for this year’s National Nutrition Month®, created by the ADA and celebrated annually each March.
