Football, Baseball and Green Tea

And what a great day it was for all at the Super Bowl. What a performance by both teams with terrific entertainment from Tom Petty and Jordan Sparks.

The Giant victory brought back memories of the outstanding Super Bowl performance by our friend Phil Simms in Super Bowl 21. He set a record for pass completion percentage that still stands today. I’m sure with all the Bigelow Green Tea that Phil drinks regularly he could probably go out and set the record again!

Just think opening day is right around the corner for all you baseball fans and Joe Torre is settling in with the Dodgers and all of the Bigelow Green tea drinkers on the West Coast.

Tune In Tonight

The press is all abuzz saying that the Yankees are about to name a new manager and that Joe Torre will be on The David Letterman show Monday evening (October 29th). I’m sure Joe will be a terrific guest with many stories and insights into a wide variety of subjects. I just hope David Letterman will be the perfect host and offer Joe a cup of his favorite Bigelow Green Tea. I know I’ll tune in to see.

Joe Torre, A Friend and a Professional!

Ever since last Thursday I have been overcome by sadness and pride as I watched the Joe Torre and New York Yankee saga unfold. One thing is certain Joe Torre will always be a professional and conduct himself with grace and dignity in whatever path he chooses. Not only is Joe Torre a great friend of our company and the Bigelow family, but he made my job easier because he has always been a true professional in his relationship with Bigelow.

We can talk about his accomplishments but that has all been stated thousands of times already. I’d like to wish Joe and his family all the best in his future baseball endeavors and to let him know that all of his friends at Bigelow Tea applaud him as a friend and professional.

Baseball and Bigelow Green Tea!

The races in baseball keep getting more interesting! It’s coming down to the wire but the Yankees pulled 4 games up in the Wild Card with impressive wins in Kansas City and some absolutely incredible hitting by A-Rod.

As you’re all probably aware by now, Joe Torre is also a proud member of the Bigelow team (along with Phil and Chris Simms) and we’re all so excited to see how the baseball season will end up. As a good luck charm we made some special decaffeinated green teas for Joe so he can keep warm and invigorated during those cold Fall night games. We made a special run of Green Tea with Blueberry Decaffeinated and Green Tea with Pomegranate Decaffeinated.

You never know but if they bring good luck to Joe and the Yankees, I have a sneaking suspicion that you are going to see them at your favorite grocery store very soon! Stay tuned!!

Bigelow Tea Celebrity Watch

The Yankees are charging hard having swept Cleveland this weekend and are now four games behind Boston and are tied for the Wild Card position. Not only does Joe Torre have the Yankees playing really well but there are a lot of great teams competing for the few playoff spots that will lead to the World Series.

The other great sports story was Tiger Woods winning his 13th major championship by winning the PGA Championship by two strokes. He too seemed to be in control and focused all weekend just like Joe Torre. Gee I wonder if Tiger Woods also drinks Bigelow Green Tea like Joe.

Here’s an idea for all of our blogger friends. Let us know if you’re aware of any sports stars or other celebrities who are drinkers of Bigelow Tea. We know Joe Torre, Phil and Chris Simms are and I bet there are hundreds more out there. I heard last weekend that many on Wall Street and the financial community are switching to green tea from coffee. I’ve got a feeling that this trend may be spreading like wildfire.

Wild Card Race Excitement

The race is on now! Regardless of who your favorite baseball team is, you have to love this time of year! It’s jumping back and forth as to who is leading the division and who is ahead in the Wild Card race. I am feeling particularly bullish right now because Joe Torre, green tea drinker, has the Yankees firing on all cylinders…they are only half a game back in the Wild Card race and it’s only August.

Last night I really enjoyed watching Tom Glavine, a pitcher for the Mets, win his 300th career victory. That was a wonderful accomplishment acheived with grace and dignity.

Just think, football season is just around the corner and that combined with an exciting baseball season means there’s a little something for everyone to watch and enjoy!

Green Tea and Joe Torre

This fun clip was put together by Steve Somers who is a sports talk show radio host on WFAN.  Question:  what makes Joe Torre, Manager of the New York Yankees, successful?  Green tea of course!  Check it out!

The Yankees are Back!

Do you hear the footsteps? I think the Yankees are coming!

After a nine game winning streak (and with the Red Sox losing last night 6-0 after seven innings), the Yankees will be 7.5 games back in the American League East and 3.5 games back in the Wild Card.

However, as Yogi Berra once said, “it’s not over till it’s over”. Regardless, it’s very exciting baseball and I think the season is really just beginning!

Weekend “Subway Series”

Oh what a weekend coming up. The Mets at the Yankees here in New York! It’s a true “Subway Series”! The Yankees seem to be back in a groove and I marvel at Joe Torre’s approach to the game. Willie Randolf seems to have a similar approach but in his own style. So many teams are playing good baseball right now that I think it’s going to be a great season for many.

I’m so excited about it that I think I’m going to bring my glove and ball into Bigelow Tea and have a catch in the hall with anyone who is game!! Just as long as nobody tells Mrs. Bigelow!!

Yankees vs. Red Sox

Oh what a game last night between the Yankees and Red Sox! I think we’re in for a great race between the two teams all summer as well as all of the divisions throughout baseball. Despite having been disillusioned from time to time with the issues surrounding baseball it’s times like this that bring out the kid in me. There was incredible excitement surrounding the Yankees – Red sox series and I’m sure there will be more to come throughout the league all summer. I think that’s why it has been the National Pastime for so long.
