Sweet! Bigelow Tea Brings Home a Taste of The Big Easy

Mardi Gras is an exciting time of year for people worldwide. In the United States, Mardis Gra is synonymous with New Orleans and the old south, where the institution represents many culinary traditions.

The season begins with Carnivale, which is celebrated through the weeks leading up to, and culminating with Fat Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday), signaling the end of Mardi Gras. Fat Tuesday is celebrated on February 16th this year.

And in 2010, New Orleans added the charged atmosphere of a win in Super bowl XLIV to the Mardi Gras mix as well, a busy celebration time for all of New Orleans!

At Bigelow Tea we have an affinity for cities like New Orleans that have rich, diverse history and a lively culinary soul.

New Orleans truly is a culinary city that loves to eat, whether in one of its famous restaurants or at home with recipes handed down, from generation to generation. This melting pot of French, Spanish, and Caribbean cooking all blends to create Creole Cuisine, one of the tastiest, and spiciest, styles of cooking around!

And what’s the best way to cool down after a spicy Creole meal? With a big glass of traditional southern sweet tea! The locals down south prefer their tea iced and sweet; Sipping a glass of refreshing iced tea is something that we at Bigelow Tea are always big fans of.

So wherever you’re celebrating Mardi Gras this year, be sure to bring the spirit of New Orleans into your kitchen with some spicy Creole cooking, and a big pitcher of sweet tea!
