Bigelow Serves Tea – To Our Men and Women in Service!
Tuesday, 8 December 2009 by David
You may remember that this past August Bigelow Tea shipped two million tea bags, packaged in custom-designed tea boxes, to our troops all over the world. The Bigelow Tea’s American Classic Tea came from our own 127-acre Charleston Tea Plantation on Wadmalaw Island, just south of Charleston, S.C. These specially packaged tea boxes had a striking patriotic design, including a ribbon of red, white and blue that inscribed with, “Thank You for Your Service.”

Sergeants First Class Chan and Hart
We were proud and happy to see a letter make its way to the Bigelow Tea Consumer Service Department recently, from Major Daniel Murphy of the 192nd Military Police Battalion, stationed in Iraq. Major Murphy expressed appreciation for the Bigelow Tea effort and forwarded some pictures of Sergeant First Class Chan and Sergeant First Class Hart, holding what they called the “1st Great American Tea party in Iraq.”
Major Murphy wrote:
“As you can, the tea is GREATLY appreciated and warmly welcomed! Thank you again, for your thoughtfulness to the troops. Funny thing, the weather has been that miserable fall-rainy type, and the Tea is a good drink to have around. Just like a rainy cold day in November in CT. “
Love that special Packaging!
“We wanted to bring a little bit of warmth and a touch of home to our soldiers,” said Cindi Bigelow, President of Bigelow Tea, when we sent off the 100,000 boxes in August. Indeed it did. “… this was just a little something to thank these men and women who put their lives on the line each day to fight for freedom…our version of a thank you card.”
