27th October, 2008: Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant Require Tea

As we’ve mentioned before on this blog, former hard-partying rockers Led Zeppelin now prefer tea. This famous band has greatly altered its lifestyle over the years. On their most recent tour, the band “requested little more than a constant flow of caffeine-free herbal tea.”

Tea and Led Zeppelin may not be such an unlikely match. Lead vocalist Robert Plant is known for always having a mug of hot tea, usually with honey, on tour. Did you know Plant wrote the song “Tea for One” in 1976, on the album Presence? Over 30 years ago, Plant penned this song thinking about sitting alone in hotel rooms in New York City, drinking tea for one.

Another uncommon yet very successful pairing for Plant is one with Alison Krauss. The hard rocker and the Queen of bluegrass collaborated on the album Raising Sand, and like with tea, it’s another winning duo! If you’d like to see them live, check out Ticketmaster. Maybe they are performing nearby and you can let us know more about Plant’s latest tea habits while performing.

  1. What we all want to know is if Jimmy Page is sipping enough tea to keep his fingers running up and down the fretboard.
