12th December, 2007: Santa Drinks Tea
It seems that the season’s most popular celebrity is a big tea fan! Santa Claus — also known to his fans as Saint Nick – is fond of tea and tea parties. After enjoying tea last year in Massachusetts’s Governor Gore’s mansion, he’s back for more this December 8 and 15 in Boston. As he makes his way around the globe, the jolly elf has also booked eight more tea parties in Richmond, Virginia alone! Here, he is scheduled for December 7 – 21 at the Children’s Museum of Richmond.
Don’t think that Santa’s the only one with a taste for tea. Even Rudolph is getting in on the act! The world’s most famous reindeer will be honored at a special “red nose” tea in Fort Collins, Colorado. Hosted December 15 at the Northside Aztlan Community Center, children attending will get to partake in reindeer games and make reindeer treats.
Keep these seasonal celebs in mind as the big day approaches. A nice cup of hot tea would undoubtedly be a welcome treat as Santa and Rudolph brave cold winter temps while making their rounds!

11th December, 2007: Good tea for a Cold!
I have a new favorite combo brew of the week… perfect during flu and cold season (which seems to be all around me!!)
Take one tea bag each I Love Lemon herbal and Ginger Snappish herbal, brew together in one cup, add a little dollop of honey.
If you are not feeling well, I guarantee you will feel better and if you are currently healthily (lucky you!), have this combo everyday to ward off those pesky germs! My friend at work just made one up for me-it is FABULOUS!

10th December, 2007: Joss Stone Sips Super-Spiced Tea
In our most recent celebrity tea sighting, British soul singer Joss Stone was recently spotted sipping a super spicy tea concoction. According to a November 27th story in The New York Times, Stone enjoyed peppermint tea “laced with ginger and cayenne” during a rehearsal break while chatting with country music darling LeAnn Rimes. The singers were preparing for an upcoming episode of the CMT (Country Music Television) series “Crossroads.”
Many claim that the addition of ginger and cayenne to tea is good for the throat. And, indeed, Stone needed to keep her vocal chords in tip top shape during the four days of recording.
You can hear Joss Stone and LeAnn Rimes in CMT’s Crossroads: Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. Or view the show’s online videos at the CMT website.

7th December, 2007: What’s happening at the Charleston Tea Plantation?
Aaron Lawrence knows…
After winning the R.C. Bigelow Incentive Program, territory rep., Aaron Lawrence was treated to a weekend at the Charleston Tea Plantation, which is the largest tea garden in the country. As you can tell from the photos, Aaron really enjoyed learning all there is to know about making tea. Aaron even made some new friends. According to Aaron, “The Charleston Tea Plantation is a great way to learn about tea and tea history. The staff is incredibly friendly and the site is magnificent. I would highly recommend making a visit whether you are a tea enthusiast or not!” There is more information on the Charleston Tea Plantation at www.bigelowtea.com.

6th December, 2007: Bigelow Tea Recognized for Environmental Leadership
The Connecticut Post reported this week that Bigelow Tea will be among this year’s honorees at the Bridgeport Regional Council (BRBC) annual dinner which takes place tonight. The council is recognizing one state agency and five area businesses for their environmental leadership. Bigelow Tea was chosen because of exemplary efforts made to reduce energy costs by installing solar panels in their facility. Bigelow Tea was creative and financed part of the cost with a grant. In addition to R. C. Bigelow Inc, the other “green” regional businesses being acknowledged are Aquarion, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Santa Energy of Bridgeport and Urban Green Builders.
These companies are an example to all businesses…while being “green” means saving the environment…it can also mean saving the other green — $$$ — in the process!

5th December, 2007: Tea Bag Beauty Tips
Back in November we noted how you can keep trim with tea. But, as it turns out, tea has other hidden beauty benefits to boot! According to writers at ForAHealthyWoman web site, “Your eyes’ beauty depends on tea.” As a low-cost alternative to expensive creams, warm or cold tea bags are a natural remedy for those of us who wake with puffiness or bags under the eyes. Just reuse the same “black tea bags you place into your favorite mug” for immediate relief.
If that weren’t enough, tea bags are also a healthy solution for blemish control and as a lip toner, says Cait Johnson at Care2 Healthy Living Channels. In addition to tea’s skin-friendly antioxidants and vitamins A and C, tea is a natural astringent. Simply place a warm teabag on skin blemishes for several minutes or help prevent pimples by using tea as a facial rinse. For a lip toner, just apply a warm teabag to clean lips for five minutes.
Johnson cautions that “very strong black tea can cause tan-like staining of skin.” To avoid this, be sure to enjoy your favorite Bigelow tea as a beverage first. Then, reuse the tea bags in your beauty regimen.

4th December, 2007: Sit back and enjoy the Holidays!
Well I don’t know about everyone else, but I have spent the last three weekends (yes three) doing almost nothing but getting ready for the holidays and buying Christmas presents. I think I am really missing the point of this special time of year. It shouldn’t be about putting up garland and lights and buying gift after gift. I know that “intellectually” but I think I don’t know it spiritually. I just want to make sure that all those special people I give gifts to light up with a warm smile. Well that is good but how do I balance the need to delight people and still not get caught up in all the hustle and bustle? I did share a cup of Bigelow vanilla caramel tea over the weekend with a friend, and no joke, that helped (must be all the L-theanine). Any advice is welcome. Until then I better keep the kettle on every day!
Here’s to the holidays, learning how to truly enjoy them with those we love, and still have some time for ourselves!

3rd December, 2007: Lessen the Stress this Season
We’ve known for some time now that drinking tea helps people relax during times of stress. But there’s no better time to put tea to the test than the busy holiday season!
Liesl reported in April that when we’re in trying situations, stress hormones return to normal faster for tea drinkers than non-tea drinkers. What you might not realize, however, is how real the problem of holiday stress can actually be. It’s not “all in your mind.” Even the medical experts at Mayo Clinic have recognized the problem; “the strain of shopping, attending social gatherings and preparing holiday meals can wipe you out. Feeling exhausted increases your stress, creating a vicious cycle.”
To combat seasonal stress, take the time to enjoy a quiet cup of tea and limit your consumption of caffeine. Also plan ahead whenever possible to prevent the sources of unnecessary stress. One way to accomplish this may be preparing a make-ahead holiday dinner, following this Food Channel guide. Another is by being realistic about your expectations. Don’t strive for the “Currier and Ives Christmas of [your] childhood,” says Ann Vernon, a counseling professor at the University of Northern Iowa. Instead reassess, prioritize and delegate.
