Dear Judy,

That is great advice. I went to a service this weekend and the message was that we should be the Christmas light-it shouldn't be about putting up the lights and the bows and the gifts. I just loved that...and I carried it with me all weekend. That is the truth, no matter what our faith, no matter what the holiday-we are all the lights that carries good works to those around us. I need to keep reminding myself of that important point, the holidays are about doing good things for people (kindness, love, grace)-that is the best gift we all have to give....
With warmest wishes,
Cindi

Cindi my dear,
To destress the holidays simplify them. I'm a history reenactor and we do our holiday in 1860's tradition with token gifts or hand made items. Last year I made gilded walnuts for the tree and gave these as gifts for friends wrapped in brown paper decorated with 1860's stickers I printed myself. In the old days, the tree was small, set on a table, and the emphasis was on family and friends...but these days we make too much fuss about the gifts. If our friends don't light up with a smile when they see us...then it's not the gifts we need to worry about, is it?
