28th August, 2007: Famous Tea Fans

Who’s drinking tea these days? Some of the names might surprise you!

With all the health benefits of tea, you might expect that fitness icon Denise Austin is a big fan. Austin, a member of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, cautions that “health experts say Americans are literally drinking on the pounds” and encourages visitors to EverydayHealth.com to switch from soda to either water or iced tea in order to beat the bulge.

That’s a formula that seems to work for supermodel Claudia Schiffer. According to Model Diet Plan, Schiffer’s healthful three-meal-a-day diet includes herbal tea as her beverage of choice.

And whether the reasons are for health or pure enjoyment, the word on other big names and their tea favorites is getting out like Renee Zellweger. News and fan sites alike have quoted Beatrix Potter publicist Susan d’Arcy as saying Zellweger “loves English tea. Every time I see her she is dipping a tea bag into a mug.”

Gweneth Paltrow, on the other hand, likes her tea green. In their five fun facts on Paltrow, People goes as far as to say, “she’s absolutely addicted to green tea (decaffeinated and without sugar, of course).”

And don’t forget about Phil Simms and Joe Torre who not only openly promote Bigelow Tea but drink our green tea to stay healthy!

  1. I’m glad that some of the stars of today are showing interest in tea. Some of them are great role models for children so hopefully if they hear about them drinking tea, so will they!

  2. Stars are just like normal people with a different kind of jobs. It’s great to see stars display their preference for tea but it shouldn’t be such a big deal. The most important thing is that people have to understand the benefits of tea and begin to voluntarily intergrate drinking tea into their diet. Mimicking what famous people do can only get you so far…

  3. 1. What method is used for decaffinating your green tea?
    2. Does this method retain most of the benefits of green tea?

  4. Domonique,

We use only a premium grade green tea for decaffeination, and we are currently using a CO2 decaffeination process, which retains most of the polyphenols.

    Thanks for asking and visiting!

  7. You said that Bigelow is ‘currently’ using the CO2 process for decaf. How do I know if the box I buy has used that process? Was there a packaging date that would tell me that info?

  8. We have always used the CO2 process for our Green Decaffeinated Teas.
